It began with a scan of an old Ripley's Believe It or Not book cover featuring a butterfly with an eye on each wing. I painted over this image using acrylics, experimenting with different colors and textures until I achieved something i was happy with.
Once satisfied with the painting, I scanned the image into Photoshop where I created the background and continued to experiment with textures, filter, and distortions like the halftone effect. From there I 3D rendered the word "Metamorphosis" in Illustrator, adding highlights that would complement the background.
Even after completing the poster, I continued to distort the image of the butterfly, adding more and more layers and filters in attempt to replicate the distortions of analog technology.
